What is an Adverb?

In Grammar, an adverb talks about verbs, adjectives, or other adverbs. It tells about how, when, who, and whom something occurs.  It discusses about action which is going to occur.  

Types of Adverbs

• Adverbs of Time

• Adverbs of Manner
• Adverbs of Frequency
• Adverbs of Degree
• Adverbs of Frequency

Adverbs of Time:

It indicates when or how long an action takes to happen.  The adverb of time helps in making the duration of an action. It is used when we answer questions like ''How'' or ''when'' something happens.

• I drink coffee at night.
• I go to university in the morning.
• He always comes late to school.
• He will meet them today.
• I already told him.

Adverbs of Place:

This type of adverb describes the location of an event. This adverb tells the clarity of an event by indicating the place of an event. 

• He is working here.
• The island is far away.
• He is sitting in front of Jacob.
• The book is under the table.
• He lives in a nearby village.

Adverbs of Manner:

The Adverb of manner describes how a verb is going to be done in a sentence. It helps us to understand the way of action more easily.

• She talks politely.
• Harry calmly handles the situation.
• He swims perfectly.
• They walk quickly to catch the train.
• They warmly welcomed the guests.

Adverbs of Frequency:

It tells us how often something happens.

• He tries again and again.
• I always get up at 9'o clock.
• I sometimes read novels.
• I frequently play tennis.
• I seldom check my emails.

Adverbs of Degree:

Adverbs of degree discuss how often something happens. They help us explain any situation or question.

 

• She almost passed the exams.
• Kate is very beautiful.
• I really hate traveling by bus.
• I found this argument quite boring.
• He is extremely angry.

Adverbs of Frequency:

It discusses the occurrence of an event in a definite or indefinite period. Words like hourly, daily, weekly, and yearly are examples of Adverbs of frequency.

• Often, he prefers to stay at home and watch movies.
• We should brush our teeth twice a week.
• He goes shopping every month.
• He get paid weekly.
• I usually sleep late at night.
